Far East Footnotes

Hundreds of primary school tots cross the Choon Chun river near Pusan in safety today thanks to the 335th Ordnance Battalion.

The group constructed a 40-foot bridge braced by cast iron pipes for the children after an 8-year-old girl drowned while crossing the river on her way back to school.

Far East Footnotes

Fast thinking by two 14th Infantry Regiment soldiers, Cpl. Robert Moreton, Cincinnati, O., and PFC Paul Fahey, Dorcester, Mass., saved the lives of two young Korean children drowning in a river swollen by heavy rains.  The 25th Division swimmers plunged into the water without even removing their combat boots.
