Sergeant to Aid Korean Orphans

HQ., 1ST MARINE DIV., Korea, Dec. 24.- A Marine sergeant who received one of the largest shipments of food and clothing under this division's Operation Santa Claus Tuesday boasted enough chow to feed 1,200 Korean children.

Sgt. Joseph R. McKinnon, Marion, Va. Monday opened 74 large packages and crates for Korean children's parties which were mailed by citizens of his hometown.  The shipment contained dry milk, beans, chocolate, canned fruits, vegetables and meats.

McKinnon, slightly dazed by the amount of "mail" from home said port officials in San Francisco reported to his parents that he was the recipient of the largest single shipment of Operation Santa Clause supplies to pass through that city this season.

The allotment of food arrived Monday at Inchon and was trucked to the division immediately where it was added to the stacks of gifts marines are preparing to hand out at Christmas throughout the holiday season.
