Tank Unit's Donation Amazes Chaplain

WITH 2D DIV., Korea-The 72d Tank Battalion's chaplain says he "almost fell over" when one tank company alone donated $134 toward caring for Korean war orphans.  Chaplain (Capt.) Paul M. Pease, San Jose, Calif., says 72d tankers offered to help the orphanages after he had turned down time and again pleas to adopt Korean waifs as mascots.

"A tank battalion is hardly the place to raise children," Chaplain Pease told his men.  But, after getting Eighth Army approval, Chaplain Pease put up his hat in a convenient spot at Sunday services and said any contributions for orphan care would be accepted.  He says the response was fine and the $134 from one company nearly floored him.
